About Us
Poolside Manor was the inspiration of Judy and Ivor Davies back in the mid-80s. This husband and wife team were determined to set the new standard for swimming tuition centres in the UK, by designing a purpose-built teaching pool that offers its clients a warm, friendly environment, perfect for enthusing and encouraging the beginner through to the advanced swimmer (from babies through to their grandparents!) to enjoy and progress their swimming activities.
The beautiful pine-log building creates the ideal atmosphere conducive to the teaching of swimming. This, complemented by our teaching and reception staff who we truly believe to be second to none, creates the unique learning experience known as "Poolside Manor".
Poolside Manor was opened in 1988 by Maureen Lipman, and immediately adopted its distinctive approach to swimming teaching, maintaining small classes (average teacher/pupil ratio of 1:6), and only employing the very best of teachers.
So what makes our teachers so special? We believe in teaching through encouragement and reassurance, applying the teaching practices and exercises towards each pupil's individual needs and age, helping pupils to reach their full potential. Our qualified teachers (all of whom carry additional lifeguard qualifications) will regularly teach in the water, allowing pupils to develop their self-confidence in a safe environment, so they may progress at a good pace.
In addition to our swimming tuition, Poolside Manor offers a number of other activities, including Leisure Swimming for Members, Aqua Aerobics, Pool Parties, Children's Holiday Activities, Judo & Martial Arts, Youth Swimming Club, Pilates, Ballet, Dance, Lifeguard and First Aid Courses.
