        The Interview Process

        The Interview Process

Your interview will last approximately thirty minutes and focus on why you want to work in your chosen role/s and why you feel you are suited to it/them. You will be interviewed by either one or two members of the Company’s Management or Directors.

The nature of your interview will differ according to the role/s you are applying for; it will always feature a traditional ‘dry’ interview, but may also feature a ‘wet’ component. For example, those being interviewed for lifeguarding or swimming teacher positions may undertake a ‘wet’ interview which examines your on-the-job performance; as well as a ‘dry’ interview.

There are however central skills or competences that any interview will examine; and as such some questions will ask you to draw on examples of when you have shown

        • Leadership
        • Teamwork
        • Professionalism
        • Initiative
        • An aptitude for working with children
        • A willingness to work hard
        • Safety consciousness

Here are some facts and tips regarding the interview process.

        1. Do not worry about your interview. Prepare properly and you will be rewarded. But do not panic, we will not set out to scare you or trip you up.
        2. We do not necessarily expect you to have vast experience working in similar roles- we will focus on gaining an understanding of your personality, attitude and work ethic.
The examples you draw on can be from anything you have done; in or outside of school or a work setting; at any time, but the more recent the better. These examples must focus on yourself.
        3. Please attend with an idea about your availability in the coming weeks and months. Whilst some work is highly flexible (such as party lifeguarding) or only available during the school holidays (such as holiday camp leadership), other positions require regular shift work and staff are therefore contracted to their agreed weekly sessions for the term in question.
        4. Please also prepare a short list of questions you may wish to ask us- remember that this is a two way process and you need to be happy with us as we need to be with you.
